A Three-Day Canine Fitness Event for Obedience and Rally with Bobbie Lyons
Charlotte Dog Training Club is excited to welcome internationally recognized canine fitness educator Bobbie Lyons for a three-day educational event designed specifically for Obedience and Rally competitors.
Saturday 11/14/26
The Foundation of Obedience and Rally Performance
Every movement your dog makes begins with posture.
Before a dog heels, jumps, performs a front, finishes, or changes position, their body must first be able to maintain efficient alignment and balance. Small changes in posture can influence how a dog moves, compensates, and performs during training and competition.
This seminar will introduce participants to the principles of canine posture evaluation and explain why posture is one of the first things experienced fitness professionals observe when assessing a dog.
Bobbie Lyons will explain how posture reflects the interaction of structure, muscle development, balance, and movement habits. Participants will learn what to look for, how to recognize common compensations, and how posture can influence performance over time.
Whether your goal is to improve competition performance or simply gain a better understanding of your dog's body, learning to observe posture provides a valuable foundation for making informed training and conditioning decisions.
This seminar is designed for AKC Obedience and Rally competitors, dog trainers, canine fitness professionals, and dedicated dog owners who want to better understand the physical foundations of movement and performance.

Sunday 11/15/26
Strength Behind Obedience and Rally Precision
Success in AKC Obedience and Rally depends on far more than training alone. Every exercise—from precise heeling and confident fronts to controlled finishes, jumps, and position changes—requires strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, and body awareness.
This seminar explores how thoughtful conditioning can help dogs meet the physical demands of these precision sports. Bobbie Lyons will discuss the movement skills that support successful performance and explain how a well-designed fitness program can complement your training while promoting long-term soundness.
Participants will gain a better understanding of the physical qualities required for Obedience and Rally, learn how conditioning supports performance, and discover practical strategies for developing canine athletes safely and effectively.
Whether your goal is earning your first title, improving consistency in the ring, or helping your experienced competition partner stay active for years to come, this seminar will provide valuable insight into the role fitness plays in canine performance.
This seminar is ideal for AKC Obedience and Rally competitors, dog trainers, canine fitness professionals, and anyone interested in helping their dog perform with confidence, efficiency, and long-term soundness.
Monday 11/16/26
Individual Fitness Performance Assessments
Take your learning one step further with a private, one-on-one performance assessment conducted by Bobbie Lyons.
During this individualized session, Bobbie will evaluate your dog's posture, movement, and overall physical condition to identify strengths as well as areas that may benefit from targeted conditioning. Based on the assessment, she will discuss findings with you and develop a personalized fitness plan designed to support your dog's individual needs and performance goals.
Whether you are preparing for competition, returning to training after time off, or simply want to better understand your dog's physical abilities, this assessment provides practical guidance tailored specifically to your dog.
Each appointment is approximately 1 hour in length.
Assessment spots are extremely limited and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note: These assessments are educational fitness consultations. They are not veterinary examinations, do not diagnose medical conditions, and are not a substitute for veterinary care. Dogs with known or suspected medical concerns should be evaluated by their veterinarian before beginning a conditioning program.
